Cameroon: Christian and Muslims protect each other
In Cameroon, Christian protects mosque on Friday while Muslims patrol around churches to prevent attacks from Boko haram. Due to increasingly frequent suicide attacks in Cameroon by the Nigerian militant group Boko haram, the member of the Cameroon north community have diverse a security method to prevent attacks while they are in their respective place of worship. Mindiyawa Bakary, the governor of the north region said "We have new security, where christian secure mosque when muslims are praying, On Sundays when christians are in their places of worship muslims patrol around churches to detect suspicious moverments". He went further to say, "This new strategy is currently being tested in some villages and will be extended to the whole region". According to Bakery, Since 2013 over 1,098 civilians, 67 soldiers and 3 policemen have been killed in Boko haram attacks in Cameroon far north region near Nigerian border.
