True Love: Husband donates his kidney to save wife
PJ Sapprins was disappointed to learn that after losing 70lbs to donate his kidney to his wife Tracy, he wouldn't be able to because his blood pressure was to high to perform the operation.
The couple from Birmingham, Alabama, were told Tracy life-long battle with lupus was going to kill her if she doesn't get a transplant.
The waiting list for Tracy to be eligible for a kidney transplant was seven years.
PJ refused to give up and he started a relentless fitness regime which paid cause in December of 2014, he got the good news that he can go ahead and the operation was scheduled for February.
The couple both successfully had their surgery on 24th February together.
According to Tracy "The way my kidney function now is, it's at 100%. And the best it has ever been."
"It has just been amazing to know that I did everything I could to give my wife a better quality of life is just a better feeling. I'm happy," PJ said.
The couple friends have set up a fund to financially support them during the two-months period they need for recovery before they get back to work.
