France authorizes it's supermarket to make donations to charities and food banks.
French law forbids food waste by supermarkets,
according to report , France wastes 7m tonnes of food annually.
They have become the first country to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food instead, forcing the supermarkets to donate to charities and food banks.
The law was passed unanimously by the French senate on Wednesday.
The law follows a grassroots campaign in France by shoppers, anti-poverty campaigners and those who opposed to food waste.
The counselor behind the campaign Arash Derambarsh has called on the head of the European commission to adopt same laws.
Wow!
What a way to get supermarkets involved in putting smiles on the less privilege in France.
More grace!
